Electronic Laboratory Notebooks II

Tuesday 15th October 2002

Scientific Societies Lecture Theatre, London

Interest in Electronic Laboratory Notebooks has grown considerably in recent years as confidence in the benefits of information technology has grown. Concerns about electronic record keeping, regulatory compliance, and legal acceptance of electronic signatures are gradually being overcome. But other concerns may linger. For example, will electronic records created today still be accessible in 10, 20 ... years time? What are the cultural impacts of changing the way scientists record their work?

These papers examine the current status of electronic laboratory notebooks in the context of information technology, legal and regulatory compliance, business needs and user needs.
